Lauritz Bockelmann and Kim Liedke, who have just come to Sylt from France as newly crowned Vice European Champion, and their partner Stefan Wiese-Dohse / Anke Delius win the prestigious Final Race winner title in 2019 on the Super Sail Tour.
The team already traveled as a leading team in the ranking to Westerland, but here on the Brandenburg beach on Sylt, this does not necessarily have an advantage. Waves, currents and a different wind than in most German sailing areas make regattas here particularly demanding.
“Lauritz just has an incredible run. He makes the right decisions on the water, he trims his boat super fast and has with Kim a crew that he can rely on, “says Jens Hannemann, press officer of the Super Sail Tour. “He is currently the best German Hobie 16 sailor and rightly he has won the trophy for the 4th time in a row.”
The weather in Westerland could not have been better. On Saturday, until the evening in front of many spectators sailed 5 regattas, on Sunday another 2 Fleetraces with 30 catamarans. The decision on the overall victory then fell in the team Match Race against the home port hotel team with the Danish top sailors Nicolaj Björnholt / Michelle Jensen and Daniel Björnholt / Calle Sörensen. In the mode “best of three” they had to narrowly defeated 2:0.
The international part of the Sylt Sailing Week starts with the Hobie World Cat 2019 on Tuesday 12 o’clock. 11 of the world’s best teams in the Hobie 16 teams from 11 countries and all continents. Every day from 12 o’clock until the coming Sunday, exciting races are held directly and in sight for visitors.
