In an international atmosphere and with enthusiasm that had to contend with the whims of the weather and the sea, the 3-day regatta in Cagliari, which involved over 50 Hobie Cats under the organisational flag of the Windsurfing Club Cagliari and FIV, was held.

The initial three races on Friday were good, while an unusually high wave required special dexterity both on the high seas and near the beach from the outset and did not allow any races to be held on Saturday. On Sunday, the wind deserted and, despite the attempts of the committee, which called the boats into the water mid-morning, the calm did not even allow a start. The Hobie Cat 16 and Hobie Dragoon crews were still able to complete 3 races and complete the regatta, valid for the Class Ranking List and as a selection for the Hobie Cat 16 European Championship.

In the only race course, with different starts and courses and a wind of around 15 knots from the southeast, the home team of Luca Marcis with Emma Costante as a crew (WCC) dominated unchallenged among the Hobie Cat 16s in all three races, followed by Antonello Ciabatti in an unprecedented pairing with Benedetta Meneschini (WCC) and Alessandro Cesarini with Eleonora Tabussi (Centro velico 3V).

Among the women’s crews, the win went to Francesca Pedde and Chiara Cavagnoli (WCC) while among the Under 21s Carlo Mustacchi and Riccardo D’Amico (Centro Velico 3V) prevailed. Paolo Pedde and Samuele De La Ville took first place among the Under 19s. First Master Gianluigi Costante with Oskar Dessì, the Grand Master went to the German Jens Goritz with Eisersdorff Geeske as crew.

In the Hobie Dragoon class, it was a chase for the top spot from the start: Alice Cacciotti and Elsa Recchioni Baiocchi (Tognazzi Marine Village), who also win as a women’s crew, beat the Cagliari sailors Roberto Marras with Riccardo Antinori (WCC) and Elena Spalloni with Francesca Tiseno (Compagnia della Vela di Roma). Angelo Salemme and Saverio Pignatti Morano (Compagnia della Vela di Roma) took first place among the rookies.

In the best Sardinian tradition, the Windsurf Club Cagliari did its utmost to welcome all the sailors in the best possible way, who were given a beautiful T-shirt and beautiful and original prizes at the awards ceremony.
