Garda Trentino: the Hobie 16 showed a wave of colours during the National Championships of Italy, Austria and Germany
Tri-color victory by Lorenzo Rossi and Diana Rogge; first female crew Chiara Spota and Chiara Ingrassia
Clear overall victory for Stefan Griesmayer and Caterina Uberti
Bright colours, which bring joy: this is the first impact of the “Hobie Cat 16 Multinational Championship” organized by the Circolo Vela Arco with almost 50 crews at the start from Italy, Austria and Germany, nations for which the 2021 national title was played, after the cancellation in 2020. Six races in all with a challenging start with a strong south wind and steep waves, very suffered by the Hobie Cat catamarans (up to 25 knots), which forced the FIV Race Committee to limit itself to one race of the day as most of the competitors were in trouble.
The second day, with regular suitable conditions for all, allowed to do four regattas, while on Sunday, due to the north wind which ended shortly after 12:00 and without the expected start of the “ora” wind, the Championship ended with a single regatta.
Overall winners Stefan Griesmayer and Caterina Degli Uberti, who did not compete for Italy because of the German nationality of the helmsman: they still dominated with a series of first and second seconds, leaving 8 points behind Lorenzo Rossi and Diana Rogge (Tognazzi Marine Village), who are the Italian Champions 2021, winning the last race.
Austrian champions Klemens und Gundi Gitzmueller
First place German Cup & third place overall for the Germans Goritz-Wiese-Dohe.
The rest of the Italian podium was occupied by Alessandro Cesarini and Marco Tramutola (Aniene) from Lazio and Pierandrea Gessa and Roberto Dessy (WiIndsurfing Club Cagliari) from Cagliari. Chiara Spota and Chiara Ingrassia first Female team, while Valerio Tommasi and Eva Maria Orsolini are first Youth team.
