Dear members,
In response to questions received, the Rules Committee proposes a clarifying amendment to HC14 Rule 5.1 b) and HC16 Rule 6.1 b). This clarification also addresses questions about the use of quick-release shackles (snap shackles).

The proposed change is in red italics.

PROPOSAL

Change HC14 Rule 5.1 b) and HC16 Rule 6.1 b):

 CURRENT
Blocks and cleats on the upgraded system may be replaced with similar types provided the custom attachments to the mast base and gooseneck supplied by HOBIE CAT CO are used.

 NEW
Blocks and cleats on the upgraded system may be replaced with similar types provided the custom attachments to the mast base and gooseneck supplied by HOBIE CAT CO are used. A quick-release shackle (snap shackle) may be used to attach the system to the gooseneck; however, the lower block must be attached directly to the fitting supplied by HOBIE CAT CO.
