Dutch Open Hobie 14 Wassenaar Cup 2025

Dutch Hobie 14 202518

On 6–7 September fourteen Hobie 14s competed for the “Dutch Open Hobie 14 Wassenaar Cup” at the KZVW in the Netherlands. This year marked the 7th consecutive edition of this vibrant event.

Both days offered ideal sailing conditions, with a south-easterly wind ranging from 3 Bft on Saturday to 5 Bft on Sunday. But it wasn’t just the wind that made the weekend unforgettable — the weather was absolutely stunning. With bright sunshine, warm temperatures, and a gentle breeze, the beach transformed into a scene straight out of the Caribbean. Think tropical vibes, golden sand, and clear blue skies — perfect for sailing and relaxing alike.

A special highlight this year was the participation of three youth sailors, joining the Hobie 14 fleet for the very first time. It was fantastic to see the next generation embracing the Hobie spirit, and we sincerely hope they’ll be back next year — and maybe bring some friends along too!

Saturday evening featured the traditional Hobie BBQ at a beautiful beachside location. With delicious food, cold drinks, and great company, it was the epitome of the Hobie way of life: laid-back, fun, and full of good energy. Laughter, stories, and music filled the air as sailors and friends came together to celebrate the sport and the community.
Overall results:
1. Thorin Zeilmaker (NED)
2. Nicholas Ryall (RSA)
3. Gerard Loos (ESP)

We hope our German and Maastrichtian friends will join us again in 2026 for the Dutch Open Hobie 14 — and that even more Hobie 14 sailors from abroad will come to Wassenaar to experience the magic of this event. Sun, sea, sailing, and smiles — what more could you want?
