Hobie Way Of Life In Cesenatico
Between 2 and 4 June 2022, the Congrega Velisti Cesenatico sailing club and the Hobiecat Fleet 358 Romagna are happy to be hosting the “2022 Hobie Cat 16 Italian Championship And Coppa Italia Hobie Cat Dragoon”: a very important event for all of us.
The Hobie Cat fleet 358 Romagna, is one of the oldest and most important Hobiecat fleets in Italy, and it is based in Cesenatico. The fleet has been active from the late 70s when the first pioneers of the multihull brought the tradition of dinghy catamaran sailing to Cesenatico. Since then, the “Vele di Pasqua”, one of the most popular catamaran dinghy regattas in Italy, has been organised every year in Cesentatico by Congrega Velisti Cesenatico during Easter break. From the very first editions, the regatta has become very popular among the Hobiecat 16 class. Many Italian and European sailors take part in the event with their Hobie cat 16, with up to 80 Hobiecats in some of the biggest editions.
In 1993, five friends (Vitto, Marco, Maurizio, Alfredo and Botte), who shared the same passion for our colourful catamaran decided to found the 358 fleet, following the guidelines of the legendary HOTLINE magazine. Soon the Hobiecat became one of the most popular boats in the Riviera Romagnola. The colourful sails and the joyful environment surrounding this little boat make everyone love it and the sea, which used to be coloured by the sails of the traditional boats, “Trabaccoli” and “Bragozzi”, is now coloured by the Hobie cats.

The wind in the North Adriatic in June is characterized by a breeze regime:
•In the morning, the wind starts with an intensity of 5-10 kts from N/N-E
•During the day, the wind turns gradually to right, increasing in intensity, arriving in the afternoon with an average intensity of 15 kts from E/S-E (“Scirocco”), which lasts until sunset.
