With the nationals held for the first time ever on inland waterways in South Africa it did all that it was asked to do providing strong winds, light winds, opportunities for sailors who don’t normally come to national Championships to participate in a nationals, participation by lots of junior and up-and-coming sailors and even plenty of business for Hobie Cat South Africa after the violent storm on Friday night.
Blaine and Roxanne eventually won by one point from Garth and Robbie. Going into the last day playing had a nine-point lead which Garth managed to erode with a second and two bullets. William and Lucinda Edwards were always on the hunt but several property purchases (going the wrong way!) Meant that they were pushed down to 3rd. Our own Paul Largesse and Tyron Kerford managed an excellent 4th place.
