From November 13 to 17, Fortaleza, in the state of Ceará, hosted the Brazilian Hobie Cat Championship (BRASCAT), organized by the Iate Clube de Fortaleza. Known as one of the best sailing venues in Brazil, the event reaffirmed the spirit of unity and camaraderie that characterizes the Hobie Cat sailing community.
While the enthusiasm and motivation of the participants were evident, the event also highlighted a significant concern: the future of the Hobie Cat class in Brazil. The lack of boats and spare parts available in the national market directly impacted participation in the championship, emphasizing the urgent need for action by the manufacturer. It is essential for the company to clearly and effectively signal the resumption of production of reliable and durable boats for competition, following the high-quality standards previously set by models produced in Australia and the United States.
Despite these challenges, BRASCAT demonstrated that the Hobie Cat class remains strong, motivated, and committed. The championship once again provided an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of friendship among sailors and, at the same time, recognize those who invested the most in training and technical development throughout the year.
The next BRASCAT is already confirmed for late October 2025, at the Ponta das Canas venue in Ilhabela, on the coast of São Paulo. Known as the sailing capital of Brazil, the region promises to attract even more competitors, further strengthening the Hobie Cat class and its sporting tradition in the country.
