A top quality of Hobie Tigers raced at the 2016 South African Hobie Tiger Championships in Langebaan. The fleet contained 7 current or former Hobie wolrd champions The top 5 places had current or former Hobie World Champions showing the depth of Hobie racing in South Africa.. Hobie Reigning Hobie Tiger World Champions, William and Douglas Edwards may have been favourites but the other South African sailors had other ideas. Shaun Ferry and Leigh Hawkins won on a count back from Allan and Daniel Lawrence with Blaine and Peter Dodds on the podium for third place.
On the same course was the South African Hobie 16 Women’s Championship. Lucinda Edwards and Roxanne Dodds won doing what their family members on the Tiger fleet couldn’t do.
