Pescara, Italy hosts National Hobie Multiclass

Hobie Dragoon Pescara

Positive balance for the three days of regattas for the catamarans engaged in the National Hobie Multiclass which took place in Pescara under the expert organization of Mauro Di Feliciantonio and his ASD Svagamente within the official calendar of the Italian National Sailing Federation.

Sunny days and a good east wind accompanied the more than 60 crews engaged in the Hobie Cat 16 Spi, Classic (without spinnaker) and Dragoon classes who challenged each other, with the usual technique and passion, in the stretch of sea in front of the bathing establishment Il Traghetto, the nautical base of the club.

On Saturday and Monday, each category sailed four races facing the east wind on 10/13 knots, while the competitions of the second day, Sunday, were interrupted by the FIV race committee due to strong gusts from various directions, including Scirocco and Mistral, with peaks of 46 knots. Races were not finished for safety reasons but great experience for the young athletes who had to face such demanding weather and sea conditions on the return to the shore.

Excellent debut of the Abruzzo rookies in the HC16 class Caterina Dall’Olio and Camilla Di Tillio of Asd Svagamente. Victory in the Dragoon category for Marcello D’Anselmo and Damiano Lettere from Pescara who fought to the last with the very fierce rivals from Cagliari Alessandro Vargiu and Maria Eleonora Bandel who arrived by just seconds. Third on the podium Leonardo Vascellari and Gaia Frau also from the Cagliari Club.

In the HC 16 Spi podiums all over Rome: Caterina Degli Uberti and Diana Rogge of Tognazzi Village win followed by Giammarco Gini and Elisa Mustacchi who finished second, Ruben Ginebri and Leonardo Fiorito third, both crews of the CV 3V of Trevignano Romano on Lake Bracciano.
The Romagna team from Cesenatico made up of Luca Ragazzini and Linnea Valeri won first place in the HC classic class, while the couples who climbed the second and third step of the podium are still from Pescara, respectively Sandro Marino (commodore of the Hobie 808 fleet) -Marco De Felice and Marcello Cozzolino-Mattia Ciattoni, both linked to the Svagamente club.

Mauro Di Feliciantonio, federation instructor Asd Svagamente: “I am satisfied with what is organized with the IX FIV Zone in Pescara and dedicated to the specialties of the Hobie Cat catamarans. It is now a regular national regatta for the beach of Pescara which comes alive and colours. A season full of events awaits us.

Hobie way of Life, Pescara!
