The current Brazilian Hobie Cat 16 (HC16) champions, Cláudio Teixeira and Ana Paula Dias, from São Paulo, had a great performance this Thursday (11/17) and took second place overall in the Brazilian Class Championship by winning two of the three regattas, postponing to this Friday (11/18) the definition of who are the best catistas in the country.

Teixeira and Paula go on to the last day of competition, in Aracaju, with eight points lost more than leaders Cláudio Cardoso (PE) and Beatriz Albuquerque (PB). “There were two firsts and one second. We went from fifth to second overall. From now on, it’s a new life. We’re going to try to get first place. It’s difficult, but anything can happen”, says Teixeira, who is looking for his third championship at the same time. Northeast Region where in Ceará, in 2016, he won his first Hobie Cat 16 championship.

The pairs Felipe Frey (SP) / Ícaro Carneiro (CE) and Guilherme Araújo / Ricardo Guerra (PE) lost one position each and are in 3rd and 4th places respectively. The Ceará-born Robert Bezerra and Sculi Ribeiro won the last race of the day in the HC16 and rose from 6th to 5th overall.

Adam Mayerle from Santa Catarina won all the races of the day and is very close to becoming two-time Brazilian Hobie Cat 14 champion.

The two final regattas for each class will be held this Friday (11/18), starting at 10am. The closing ceremony with the award ceremony takes place on the same day, starting at 7 pm, at the Yacht Club of Aracaju (Icaju).
Brascat 2022 brings together 37 HC16 teams and 11 HC14 sailors.

Organized by Icaju and Associação Brasileira da Classe Hobie Cat (ABCHC), the Championship has the support of the Brazilian Sailing Confederation (CBVela).
