Introduction There have been a few accidents this past year resulting in personal injury while sailing. We have also had a very recent tragedy where a young sailor drown in a trapeze hook entanglement.
Day 1 After two days of registration and welcome party the 2015 Hobie® Australian Hobie Championships the racing got underway. The strong southerly breeze that battered the recent Sydney to Hobart fleet had dropped to perfect 8-12 knots.

Hobie Cat® Worldwide and the International Hobie Class Association are pleased to announce that the 21st Hobie 16 World Championships will take place in 2016, at the idyllic location of Dapeng, Longgang, which is set among the scenic mountains of the Dapeng District of Shenzhen in southern China.
The French Hobie Class is very pleased to announce the 2016 Hobie Championships will be in Lancieux. Lancieux is situated in the Cotes-d’Armor (Brittany region) in the north-west of France at 47 km from Saint-Brieuc, the department capital. (Lancieux is 331 km from Paris)
The 2016 Hobie 17 North American Championships will be hosted at Carlyle Sailing Association 20960 Hazlet Park Rd, Carlyle, Illinois 62231 and Hobie Fleet 123 from the 21st August to 26th August. For the Hobie 18 it will also be the also US Sailing Multihull Championships for the Hobie Alter Trophy

Most of the cat sailing in Holland takes place on the North Sea coast; the Dutch Dragoon Cup is hosted by the Cat Club Zeeland (CCZ) on Veerse Meer (Lake Veere). The water is shallow and relatively protected which is perfect to train the young Hobie sailors.
The Hobie Class is still strong internationally and I see some encouraging signs of growth. In the last two years, the Hobie class held two enormously successful world championships for our international classes Hobie 16 (2014) and Hobie 14, Dragoon, Tiger, Wildcat partnered with the Hobie 16 Europeans (2015).
Damrongsak and Kitsada Vongtim from Thailand won the Vistra Hobie Asian Championship 2015 in a convincing fashion. In some excellent sailing they managed to win all but 1 of their races. The Vongtim brothers have won the Hobie Asian Championships many times over the years.
