The 2023 Hobie 16 North American Championships has registration and crew weigh-in starting from midday on the 21st of August with racing to start on the 22nd of August. Racing will continue until the 25th of August.
This is primarily addressed to the H16 sailors, but I know that many of us cross fleets and time is of the essence! Pre-registrations are essential to ensure that we are prepared for your arrival. At this time… if you want to ensure you get a sweet regatta shirt from Rooster, we need your registration by this weekend! Orders go on Monday. There will be some extras, but if you haven’t signed up yet… we’re just guessing!
Non-H16 sailors! Tell your friends! Or come out, charter a boat, and show the 16 guys how it’s done!
We’re getting into the final weeks before the big event in Alameda, CA. We’ve got a great week lined up for sailing in the south bay area of SF Bay.

Monday, Aug 21st- Check-in and practice racing!
Happy hour at a nearby yacht club to catch up with friends and meet the locals!
Tuesday Aug22nd – Racing starts! We’re shooting for ideal H16 racing conditions, so race times may be adjusted earlier or later to avoid big breezes or morning lulls. Free night for exploring or grouping up with friends.
Weds Aug 23rd- More Racing! Followed up by dinner at a local brewery with food truck dinners and a raffle!
Thursday, Aug 24th- Even more Racing! Along with another free night. There are a bunch of restaurants nearby, bars, and shops for whatever you’re into. We’re working on a visitor book that should be coming out soon for some highlights.
Friday, Aug 25th – The last day of Racing! A new champ will be crowned! The awards banquet at the Oakland Yacht Club with food, drink, pictures, and music!
We’ve got 24 boats signed up so far with another 5-10 lurkers. We’ve got gear from Hobie Sailing, swag bags, Ronstan and Rooster kit, and some goodies from Murrays. You don’t want to miss out!

For families and non-sailors in the family, there is a nearby park to either view the sailing or explore the local area.
The racing will be at Crown Beach Memorial Park in Alameda, CA. The event will be sailed in the waters south of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco Bay.
