Presidents Report

For the most part, this has been the “winter that wasn’t” here in my part of the world. We are on course for the warmest winter in recorded history here, but global warming is a hoax right? What planet is that guy from.

Still I am managing to get some skiing in and some sailing too. The photo is from February 9, 2020 in Annapolis, MD. I was driving a motorboat and doing chase boat duty for my sailing club. It’s amazing how much sailing goes on year-round in Annapolis. It was about 40-degree F that day and there were probably 100 boats out racing on two race courses.

Executive Director's Report

The 22nd Hobie 16 World Championships has concluded an what a great event. A huge thank you to the 504 athletes that attended. Also, well as their friends and family which came to support them and enjoy the Hobie hospitality. With two days lost in the sailing. One day due to no wind and one with too much wind. Yes, that is right for all those saying it never blows in Florida were surprised.

For those that want to relive the moment of a Hobie Worlds we have so much information on the Hobie Worlds web site . Also on the IHCA YouTube page has some of the best footage of sailing I have seen. The drone shots give a totally different perspective.  I would recommend sailors to view this for training and improving their sailing. See how the best sailors, start and handle their boats.
